The AppleTalk to IP Migration Suite

The AppleTalk to IP Migration Suite provides an integrated set of products which aid in the ongoing migration of Macintosh networks from AppleTalk to Internet protocols. These products help to maintain the services, security and ease-of-use which users have come to expect from their AppleTalk networks while still providing the openess, power and reach of the Internet.

Components of the Migration Suite include:

• ShareWay IP, Professional Edition. ShareWay IP lets you maintain the principal AppleTalk service you've come to expect: file sharing. With ShareWay IP Pro, you can move your AFP (AppleShare) compatible servers, including the Mac's personal file sharing, to Internet protocols.
  

• DoorStop version 1.0.1. DoorStop is easy-to-use Macintosh-based firewall software. With DoorStop, you can protect your file sharing and other services from unwanted access, even in the face of the increased security risks of the Internet. Maybe not quite the security of an isolated AppleTalk network, but the next best thing.
  

• AFP Engage!, version 1.0.3 (50 client license). AppleTalk was designed with ease-of-use as its number one goal. The Internet was not. AFP Engage! brings AppleTalk's Chooser's ease of use to the Internet, and more. With AFP Engage! users can access Macintosh file servers just as they do any other Internet servers -- through their Web browser!

  Additional AFP Engage! client licenses available, including site licenses.

• Documentation and examples. The Migration Suite includes extensive new documentation and sample files, further simplifying the process of migrating your AppleTalk network to IP while maintaining the functionality, security and ease-of-use you've come to expect from Macintosh networks.

Overall requirements:

• Mac OS 7.6.1 or later (Mac OS 8.1 or later for DoorStop)
  
• AppleShare client 3.7 or later
  
• PowerPC CPU (except for clients)
  
• Approximately 3MB of RAM for use by applications in the Suite
  

ShareWay IP Pro requirements:

• Power PC
• Mac OS 7.6.1 or later (Mac OS 8.1 or later for "multihoming")
• A TCP/IP network, or Internet connectivity, between the ShareWay IP and client machines.
• An AppleTalk network between the server and ShareWay IP machines, if the server and ShareWay IP are on different machines.
• Any AFP 2.1 or later server (includes Mac OS personal file sharing, AppleShare 3 or 4, Macintosh Services for Windows NT Server, etc.)

DoorStop requirements:

• PowerPC
• Mac OS 8.1 or later
• Open Transport 1.3 or later

AFP Engage! requirements:

• Mac OS version 7.5 or later
• 512 KB RAM for the application
• Open Transport 1.1.2 or later
• AppleShare Client 3.7 or later
• Netscape 2.0 or later and/or Microsoft Explorer 3.0 or later
• Internet Config 1.3 or later (if desired)
